Massive icebergs floating towards coast of New Zealand

From the island of Tasmania, near Australia, 100 or more icebergs were sighted, and it is only the second time in 78 years that they have been seen. The last occasion was in 2006, when icebergs were so huge they could be seen from New Zealand. The NIWA (National Institute of Water and Research) said that the largest one was about 500 meters wide and 50 meters tall, with the thickness of 350 meters. A reporter even said that it wasn’t the size of the icebergs that hadn’t attracted attention; it was the fact that icebergs were so uncommon in those waters. A lot of people think it was due to a cold snap in Antarctica a few years ago, although global warming has been doubted. Since the icebergs move very slowly, it is said that there is a current that is dragging them along, but they’re doomed to melt in warmer waters, people say. Three years ago, aircrafts were giving ride and tours to the icebergs, and last year, a sheep was shorn on one of the icebergs.

The Colombian government. It talks about how Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez announced on his weekly show to the military to make preparations for a war on the neighboring country, Colombia because they think that Colombia has joined forces with the U.S. to attack Venezuela. “The two countries have joined forces to fool the world or to try to fool the world.”-Says Chavez. He also said-“Let’s not waste a single day in preparation, because it’s everyone’s responsibility.”Colombia responded that it had no intentions to attack, and asked for the intervention of the U.S. government. Chavez refused to believe it, and called them “hypocrites” and “immoral”. His accusations come from the agreement that the U.S. government and the Colombian government did, that allows militaries to be at Venezuelan posts. The relationship between the two countries has been rocky ever since.

He was selected president of Honduras in 2005, but he was retained by the army, and after four months torturing, they reached a deal. He would have to serve the three remaining months of his term and then give his place up. Early in the morning of June 28 of this present year, soldiers arrived to the capital, Tegucigalpa, and stole Mr. Zelaya’s phone, and pushed him into a van. They then shipped him aboard a plane and out of the country. He had insisted many times that he was the president of Honduras and that he was innocent, and since he had been wakened early, he was still in his pajamas. That day, he was voted off and replaced by the president of congress, Roberto Michelletti.The military gave no reasons for their behavior, but the Supreme Court said it had done so because it was acting to defend the country. The Court said Zelaya wanted to re-write the constitution and rewin the election. Hugo Chavez, Venezuela’s president, was suspected of being in league with Zelaya.This crisis created chaos in Honduras, because supporters of Zelaya have created marches and curfews in his honor. After many hours trekking and hiking through mountains, he managed to sneak back to the country, and he’s been living in the Brazilian embassy ever since. People fear he will put Chavez’s style (communism, etc.) in Honduras, but he still has the support of the poor and the union labors.
